About Desley
My journey with EFT…
My journey with EFT began in 2005 when I took my first course and started tapping with friends and family. As a full-time teacher at the time, I introduced EFT in my classroom and saw firsthand how it helped children become more centered, calm and present. I also used it with my own kids—tapping together most mornings in the car on the way to school, helping them arrive feeling balanced and ready for the day. I was amazed at how this simple yet powerful technique could support emotional well-being, bringing a sense of peace and relaxation to both children and adults alike. This fueled my passion to learn more so I pursued more study and training and tapped on my own issues before I began working in private practice helping people with a variety of challenges.
Over the years I tapped on my own emotional baggage and limiting beliefs. As a “good” teacher, wife and mother I prioritized others’ needs first and put myself last. This led to deep exhaustion and emotional burnout. Tapping helped me to heal the emotional turmoil and recognise and release the deep-seated limited belief that told me my worth was tied to self-sacrifice. Through tapping, I curtailed my ‘burnt chop’ behaviours—always giving myself the scraps—and instead learned to accept and express my own needs with confidence. This wasn’t easy for someone who had been conditioned to believe that putting others first was the only way to be valuable. Transforming that ingrained belief and changing behaviors took time. I learned that putting on my own oxygen mask on first is not selfish—it’s essential. And now, I help others do the same.
As I let go of what was no longer serving me I engaged in more life-enriching activities that fed my soul like walking a 300 kilometre Camino in Spain in 2019; something I didn’t think possible in my 60s until I tapped on my resistance and found the confidence to go for it! That to me is emotional freedom!
I love sharing this amazing tool to help others heal whatever is holding them back from being in touch with love, peace and joy; from achieving their goals and developing their power and potential.
